About Pennridge High School

Pennridge High School

Pennridge High School is a large suburban high school located 30 miles north of Philadelphia in Perkasie, Southeast Pennsylvania (Bucks County). Pennridge High School covers the eight municipalities of Dublin, Perkasie, Sellersville, Silverdale, Bedminster Township, East Rockhill Township, West Rockhill Township, and Hilltown Township in Central Bucks County. The Pennridge community consists of 95 square miles with a population of 65,000.

Pennridge High School was founded in 1952 after combining several of the local municipality school districts, most notably Sell-Perk School District. Today, Pennridge High School continues to grow as the development and population of the area rises. In 2007 Pennridge opened a new multi-million dollar state of the art high school campus as part of an extensive renovation project that replaced original high school buildings, the Lower and Upper Houses. This building is the educational center of approximately 2600 students and employer to 300 faculty and staff. These staff members consist of teachers, teaching assistants, custodians, cafeteria workers, maintenance, secretaries and clerks, aides, transportation personnel, emergency personnel, and administrators. There are district-wide curriculum supervisors in language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies. Department coordinators articulate the subject areas of foreign languages, technology education, family and consumer science, physical education, business education, art, and music.

The Pennridge School District has scheduled an ambitious curriculum renewal process, which revolves around its Strategic Plan. The district has identified the integration of technology to improve instructional effectiveness as a top priority. Pennridge High School offers a comprehensive array of rigorous course selections that allows students to prepare for college and/or a vocation. Eighteen Advanced Placement (AP) courses have been approved by the College Board. Students in grades 10–12 may attend the Upper Bucks Vocational-Technical School for more in-depth preparation in an area of vocational interest. Students with special needs have access to programs in Special Education, English as a Second Language, basic skills remediation, and alternative high school placements. Students of exceptional ability may participate in an Extended Learning Community Program that includes gifted seminars, workshops, mentorships, independent projects, and off-campus study.

Our newly opened College and Career Center is available to all students throughout the school day and various evenings during the week. The center is filled with various resources, including computer access to help students research their college and career paths after graduation. Students are also able to take classes at Bucks County Community College through our dual enrollment program. More than 90 percent of Pennridge seniors go on to college or institutions of higher learning.

Many people view the school as a landmark for the community. It has seen generation after generation attend school there. The buildings may have changed, but Pennridge's sense of community pride and tradition lives on.
